Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy Saturday 25/11/2023 said hosting the congress meeting of the International Fencing Federation (FIE) for the first time by the Egyptian resort city of Sharm El Sheikh reflects the Egyptian state’s commitment to boosting sports domain.
Holding the first FIE congress in the Middle East in Egypt proves the unprecedented leap and remarkable progress achieved by Egypt’s sports system, thanks to full support provided to President Abdel Fattah a;-Sisi in this regard, Sobhy said.
The minister was speaking at the opening of the FIE congress via video conference.
The meeting was attended by Emmanuel Katsiadakis, the Greek president of the International Fencing Federation (FIE), Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Fencing Federation and member of the Egyptian Olympic Committee Abdelmoneim al-Husseiny as well as members of the general assembly.
Held on November 24,25, the meetings of the FIE Bureau and Executive Committee are attended by 106 persons representing 135 countries.
