Embezzled assets of former President Hosni Mubarak and other regime figures total at least US$704 million, said Assem al-Gohary, head of the Illicit Gains Authority (IGA) and the judicial committee in charge of retrieving smuggled assets in a statement on Tuesday.
Gohary told Al-Masry Al-Youm that frozen assets in Switzerland were estimated at $413 million before the revolution, after being checked by the committee.
He added that the committee submitted documents with information and investigations about a number of former regime figures, who had siphoned $292 million abroad in additional funds.
