Stringent measures laid down by the Health Ministry aimed at minimizing the spread of the H1N1 virus among school students have cast a shadow over preparations for mid-term exams scheduled to begin next week in Cairo and Giza.
"We will provide more space in order to have the smallest number of students as possible in each exam room," said Education Ministry official Mahmoud el-Arini. "And we’ll make sure rooms are well ventilated."
"We will also assign a doctor and nurse to every exam room," He added.
In a related development, ministry officials say exams this year will be easier than usual in light of numerous class interruptions in recent months owing to the discovery of H1N1 cases in schools throughout the country.
