Grand Mufti Shawki Allam held the first round of talks with Ukrainian Mufti Ahmed Tamim on Sunday to review ways to enhance religious cooperation between Egypt and the Ukraine.
Tamim said the religious administration of the Muslims of Ukraine is keen to disseminate Al-Azhar’s moderate school of thought away from militancy and extremism.
He extended an open invitation to the Egyptian Fatwa scholars to visit the Ukraine and discuss the needs of the Muslim community there.
Tamin was briefed on the work of the Egyptian Fatwa Authority.
