Ambassador Ahmed Fadel Yacoub, the Egyptian ambassador in Nouakchott inaugurated on Thursday evening, in the Mauritanian Museum in Nouakchott the Egyptian Cinema Festival organized by the Egyptian Cultural Center in the Mauritanian capital.
Yacoub stressed the importance of the Egyptian cinema and its role in the Arab and Muslim world, calling on the Mauritanian public to attend to watch the bouquet of Egyptian films displayed free of charge.
He referred in his speech to the Egyptian cinema history, which celebrated in 2007, a century since it was founded.
Beside being a means of entertainment, the Egyptian cinema has played important cultural roles, he added, pointing out that it contributed to the creation of an Arab cinema preserving the Arab identity and reflecting the issues and problems of the Arab world.
