Egypt’s judiciary has sworn in 26 new female judges as per a decree by Justice Minister Ahmed al-Zend.
The new batch will be appointed to a number first instance courts.

In a conference by the Arab Women Organization on Saturday, Zend said a third batch of female judges would be appointed. He pointed that 42 had already been appointed over two earlier stages until 2008.
The justice minister said the appointments came as part of a plan by his ministry to embolden new female judges, stressing that the ministry would “eliminate all hurdles facing women’s work in the judiciary”.
Zend declared that the coming period would see courts having female presidents and others appointed as assistants to the minister himself.
