Train locomotive derailed at Tanta city in Nile Delta

A locomotive from the Egyptian National Railways Authority (ENR) derailed on Monday while entering the Tanta station in Gharbiya Governorate, north of Egypt.

The ENR returned the locomotive tracks, after it has derailed while entering the workshops at Tanta railway station for maintenance without any injuries or loss of life.

The incident caused a disruption in train traffic on the Port Said-Alexandria line.

The authority immediately sent cranes and equipment to the accident site to help lift the locomotive and prepare for the resumption of movement.

The ENR is working to change railway tracks in the main station of Tanta, without impacting the movement of trains, which resumed on all railway lines without any delay.
