CAIRO, Sept 30 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Tuesday called for continued efforts by national bodies to fully implement the National Human Rights Strategy and integrate it into state policies, aligning with Egypt’s constitutional guarantees and international commitments.
Sisi also directed authorities to raise public awareness on human rights and related responsibilities, and to continue legislative and institutional reforms supporting this agenda. He emphasized the need to begin drafting a new strategy in cooperation with stakeholders, including civil society.
The comments came during a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty, who briefed the president on Egypt’s participation at the UN General Assembly’s high-level meetings, according to presidential spokesperson Mohamed al-Shennawy.
Sisi was presented with the fourth executive report on the current five-year strategy (2021–2026), highlighting advances across civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights.
Abdelatty, who chairs the Supreme Standing Committee for Human Rights, noted progress in protecting the rights of women, children, the elderly, people with disabilities and youth, stressing the state’s inclusive approach to rights without discrimination.
