US President Donald Trump announced that he would like Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to join the “Peace Council tasked with managing affairs in the Gaza Strip.”
The announcement came during a bilateral meeting between the two presidents on the sidelines of the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit, which is being held to discuss efforts to achieve stability in the region and support the Middle East peace process.
The Summit is also scheduled to discuss enhancing international cooperation to confront regional tensions, and opening new horizons for coordination among participating nations to ensure the success of peace efforts and reconstruction in Gaza.
The international conference is taking place in Sharm El Sheikh under the title “Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit,” co-chaired by Sisi and Trump.
Its aim is to end the war in the Gaza Strip, strengthen efforts to establish peace and stability in the region, and open a new chapter of regional security and stability.
The Egyptian Presidency announced the participation of a host of world leaders and dignitaries at various levels—from kings and presidents to vice-presidents, prime ministers, and ministers—a step that reflects the international community’s interest in supporting the truce agreement and advancing reconstruction and humanitarian aid efforts in Gaza.
