Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said that the World Health Organization (WHO) commended Egypt’s remarkable progress in disease eradication efforts throughout 2024.
He noted that in March 2024, Egypt was officially declared free of measles and rubella, while in October of the same year, the WHO also announced that Egypt had eliminated malaria.
In a telephone interview on the Extra News channel on Thursday, he stated that Egypt has become the first country in the Eastern Mediterranean Region to successfully eliminate hepatitis.
He said that over the past five years, Egypt has demonstrated that healthcare is a top national priority.
