Egypt, South Sudan FMs pledge closer ties, stress importance of peace and security in Sudan – 3 last Cairo

South Sudan’s foreign minister thanked Abdelatty for the warm welcome, describing his visit to Egypt as historic and strategic.

He said the visit had four main reasons: South Sudan considers Egypt its second home; he carries a special message from South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi; participation in the second ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum; and holding meetings with Egypt’s leadership.

He pointed out that his meeting with President Sisi was very friendly, and affirmed his country’s commitment to the five pillars of Egypt-Africa relations declared by the Egyptian leader.

He also described as “fruitful” his talks with Egypt’s interior minister on shared challenges and conditions of South Sudanese citizens in Egypt.

The South Sudanese foreign minister said he agreed with his Egyptian counterpart to continue consultations, convey outcomes to their political leaderships, and strengthen bilateral relations.

He added that another South Sudanese delegation is scheduled to visit Egypt to implement what has been agreed upon between both sides. (MENA)
