FM discusses regional de-escalation, diplomacy with his Saudi counterpart

Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty met Sunday with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on the sidelines of a quadrilateral ministerial meeting in Islamabad.

The meeting addressed enhancing bilateral cooperation, regional developments, and efforts to achieve regional calm.

The ministers praised the strategic relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia and their shared commitment to developing cooperation.

They discussed supporting direct negotiations between the US and Iran, emphasizing diplomacy to avoid regional chaos.

Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, rejecting all attempts to undermine Arab national security.

He stressed the rejection of any infringement on the sovereignty of sisterly Gulf states.

Regarding Palestine, they urged implementing phase two of President Trump’s peace plan and establishing a state on 1967 borders.

They also discussed dangerous developments in Lebanon amid continued Israeli escalation, emphasizing the importance of supporting Lebanese state institutions to preserve the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
