Egyptian, Greek FMs discuss latest regional developments, bilateral relations

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a telephone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, George Gerapetritis, to discuss the bilateral relations between the two nations and the latest of the developments within the region to discuss bilateral relations and the latest regional developments.

The two ministers stressed the strength of relations between Egypt and Greece, especially after upgrading ties to a strategic partnership.

Abdelatty said that Egypt is seeking to expand economic, trade, and investment cooperation with Greece and praised the support of Athens for Cairo within European Union institutions.

The call also tackled regional developments and efforts to reduce tensions through diplomatic solutions. Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s contacts aimed at de-escalation and stressed the importance of supporting negotiations between the US and Iran.

The ministers also discussed developments related to the Palestinian issue, Libya, and Sudan.

Abdelatty stressed the importance of advancing the political process in Libya, holding presidential and parliamentary elections, and preserving the country’s unity and sovereignty.

Regarding Sudan, he stressed the need to preserve the country’s unity and national institutions while rejecting external interference.

The two ministers agreed to continue coordination and consultations to support regional stability and reduce tensions.
