Egyptian, UAE FMs tackle regional developments

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a phone call on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan as part of ongoing consultations between the two sisterly countries on regional developments and issues of mutual concern.

The two ministers discussed ways to further enhance Egyptian-UAE cooperation across various fields and reaffirmed their commitment to building on the strong strategic partnership and close coordination that characterize relations between the two countries, reflecting the depth of their fraternal ties and shared interests.

The call included an exchange of views on key regional developments, particularly the Iranian issue. The ministers reviewed the course of US-Iran negotiations and efforts aimed at reaching an agreement, while also discussing ways to reduce tensions and strengthen security and stability in the region.

The two sides also discussed developments related to the Palestinian issue and efforts to implement US President Donald Trump’s peace plan. In addition, they reviewed the situation in Lebanon, stressing the importance of supporting Lebanese state institutions and preserving Lebanon’s security and stability.

The ministers further discussed developments in Sudan and the efforts of the Quartet regarding the crisis, as well as ways to support initiatives aimed at achieving stability and advancing prospects for a political settlement.

At the conclusion of the call, the two ministers agreed to maintain close consultation and coordination on various regional issues in a manner that supports regional security and stability and serves the common interests of the two brotherly countries.
