Ministry of Health and Population announced on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, that the country has entered the Guinness World Records after setting a new world record for the largest number of people registered to donate blood within 12 hours across multiple locations nationwide.
In a statement, Health Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said that the nationwide campaign, organized by the Central Blood Transfusion Administration to mark World Blood Donor Day under the directives of the health minister, registered more than 15,000 blood donors in just 12 hours, securing official recognition from Guinness World Records.
He said that the achievement reflects the ministry’s efforts to encourage voluntary blood donation and strengthen Egypt’s strategic blood reserves to support patients and emergency medical care.
He added that the record was achieved through the combined efforts of health directorates, blood banks, medical teams and thousands of participants across the country.
