About 13,331 foreigners have work licenses in Egypt

Director of the department for foreign workers’ license at the Labor Ministry Karima Abdel Rahman said about 13,331 foreigners from various countries obtained working licenses, topped by the Chinese, Indian and Syrian workers.

In statements to MENA, Abdel Rahman said foreigners work in Egypt is governed by several regulations, topped by their number at any facility should not exceed 10 percent of Egyptian workers with insurance in the facility.

Foreign workers should also have three-year experience in the field where they work, she added.

She referred to rising annual revenues from foreign work licenses which increased from LE28 million in 2014 to LE 211 million in the current time, up eight times in eight years.

The ministry agreed with the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) on building unified database of foreign workers and investors, she said.
