Aswan to erect US$3 bn solar energy plants

The Aswan governorate is preparing to construct 39 solar energy plants in Banban, west of the Nile River, at a total cost of US$3 billion.

Nageh Mostafa, chairman of the Daraw city local council, said the project’s infrastructure has already been prepared before work begins on the plants in early December. He said the plants will be erected on 8,843 acres of land.

The plants will be offered to investors through usufructs based on rules previously set by the government, according to Mostafa, who revealed that the undertaking will secure 20,000 jobs for the people of Aswan.
