Prime Minister Hazem al-Beblawy described on Tuesday the Muslim Brotherhood as a 'terrorist group,' saying it has reared its ugly face, shedding the blood of Egyptians, according to Sharif Shawky, Beblawy's media advisor.
Shawky told state-run news agency MENA that the prime minister stressed that these terrorist acts committed by the group will not hinder moving forward in the roadmap, and would not discourage citizens from going to vote on the constitution, in the referendum to be held mid-January.
Hani Salah, the Cabinet spokesperson, said that Beblawy will discuss the legal means to officially declare the MB as a terrorist group.
On the other hand, Social Solidarity Minister Ahmed al-Boraie condemned the Tuesday bombing of a security building in Mansoura, adding that the MB have no future in Egypt whatsoever. He said declaring it a terrorist group “has become a reality, for what they did with their own hands.”
Despite immediate assumptions and finger pointing by government officials, they have yet to produce evidence linking the recent bombing to the Brotherhood.
At least 12 people were killed and more than 100 wounded in the massive explosion at a security compound in Egypt's Nile Delta area of Mansoura.
