Beni Suef health officials to face trial over toddlers’ death

The chairman of the Administrative Prosecution Authority has referred nine senior officials in Beni Suef Health Department to an urgent trial following the death of two toddlers who were given a faulty drug.

Five-month-old Rahma Abdellatif and 11-month-old Marwa Ahmed Gomaa died at Baba Central Hospital and Ehnasia Central Hospital in Beni Suef after they were given a rehydration solution that caused them cramps and fever.

Similar incidents occurred in Beni Suef hospitals in 2015 after toddlers were given dehydration solution and later died.
