Brotherhood internal front to propose changes to group bylaws

The internal opposition front within Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood (MB) is expected to propose amendments to the group’s official bylaws at a conference slated for late this month.

The front will then submit the proposed changes to the MB’s authoritative guidance bureau for consideration.

Front members want to assign independent legal experts to devise civil and democratic group bylaws to serve as a constitution for the movement. They also wants to establish a general assembly the authority of which would supersede that of the guidance bureau and the MB general guide.

“The movement's current bylaws are inapplicable and impractical,” said internal opposition front member Mokhtar Nouh. “We want bylaws that will guarantee justice and equality for all members of the group.”
