Video: Why Egypt team manager Ibrahim Hassan clashed with US hotel security

A source within the Egyptian national football team has cleared up rumors regarding a verbal altercation between team director Ibrahim Hassan and an American security guard at the Pharaohs’ residence hotel in Dallas, Texas.

The Egyptian delegation arrived in Dallas on Thursday morning to prepare for their highly anticipated Round of 32 clash against Australia in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Incident sparked by fan treatment

Speaking exclusively to Al-Masry Al-Youm, the source confirmed that a brief dispute did take place, but clarified it was triggered by the security staff’s heavy-handedness toward Egyptian fans.

“An altercation occurred between Ibrahim Hassan and a hotel security guard due to the organizers’ poor handling of the Egyptian fans,” the source stated. “The fans were eager to take commemorative photos with the players, but security intervened aggressively. This angered Hassan, who stepped in to object to their harsh demeanor.”

The source emphasized that the situation was minor, quickly resolved, and that no boundaries were crossed by either party. Furthermore, they assured that the incident would have absolutely no impact on the squad’s focus ahead of the critical knockout match.

Tournament outlook

Egypt secured their spot in the Round of 32 after finishing as runners-up in Group G with 5 points. Meanwhile, Australia advanced as the runners-up of Group D with 4 points, edging out third-placed Paraguay on goal difference.

The winner of the Egypt vs. Australia showdown will advance to the Round of 16 to face either Argentina or Cape Verde.
