CAEU chief: Egypt has pioneering experience in confronting climate change

Secretary General of the Council of Arab Economic Unity (CAEU) Mohammedy Elni lauded Egypt’s pioneering experience in confronting climate change.

He considered as “good” the selection of Egypt to host the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), due to be held in Sharm el-Sheikh from November 6 to 18.

He highlighted Egypt’s diplomatic leverage at the regional and international levels, referring to Egypt’s efforts to confront climate change.

In statements to MENA, he said COP27 will be successful at all levels in light of Egypt’s potentials.

He noted that the Arab League laid down a climate change plan, especially in the council’s member states.

He added that some countries are lagging behind in climate action, especially industrial states which are mainly responsible for the emissions.

He lauded the achievements realized by Egypt under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in all sectors, especially national projects as well as social protection measures, topped by the launch of Decent Life initiative.
