Cairo International Airport announces state of emergency in preparation for high temperatures

Cairo International Airport on Thursday announced a state of emergency at the airport’s terminals in preparation for very high temperatures, navigation sources said.

Cairo Airport Company, meanwhile, advised its employees to follow precautionary measures and safety standards, especially on airport runways, fearing that fires may ignite from the airplanes’ engines when they touch the ground.

The company urged its employees to prepare to confront increasing temperatures and changes in climate during the coming week.

Egypt’s Civil Protection Department raised the readiness level to face high temperatures on Friday, explaining that personnel is on call 24 hours a day to fight fires that occur due to hot weather.
