Dozens of employees at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on Sunday organized a protest at the ministry's headquarters to call for permanent contracts.
One of the employees said the ministry is dragging its feet on the issue even though other ministries have already taken this step.
According to MENA, the state news agency, the same employee complained that the ministry has reduced the salaries of some engineers by 40 percent without providing reasons.
The employees are calling for hiring 1800 employees on a permanent basis and restructuring salaries.
The protesters have also complained that the salaries of some newly-hired employees in the ministry are higher than some senior employees.
Current Minister of Communications Maged Osman will likely be removed in the current cabinet reshuffle, according to news outlets.
