Court overrules sentence imprisoning Hesham Qandil and removing him from office

The Court of Cassation on Sunday rescinded a sentence imprisoning former Prime Minister Hesham Qandil for a year and removing him from office, as he was acquitted of refusing to carry out a ruling issued by the Administrative Court for the benefit of the Nile Cotton Ginning employees.

The Administrative Court had suspended the privatization of the Nile Cotton Ginning Company and turned its ownership to the state, but Qandil allegedly declined to implement the ruling, although the provisions of the Administrative Court are enforceable immediately and challenging them before the Supreme Administrative Court does not stop their execution.
