Palestinians who are using tunnels to smuggle goods between Egypt and the Gaza Strip said the Egyptian authorities have begun pumping large amounts of seawater through a giant pipe laid along the border in order to flood and destroy the tunnels without having to look for their exact locations.
Abu Mohamed, the Palestinian owner of a tunnel, said the owners are not able to pump the water out because there is too much of it.
Abu Saed, another owner, said many tunnels have already collapsed.
