Egypt, Norway assert importance of rallying int’l support to allow aid supplies to Gaza as soon as possible

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Norwegian counterpart Espen Barth Eide asserted the importance of rallying resources and international support to intensify allowing humanitarian aid supplies into the Gaza Strip as soon as possible and removing all the hindrances against its flow to the enclave.

This came in a phone call between both foreign ministers on Saturday 03/02/2024.

The call tackled the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and efforts needed to guarantee full implementation to decision no. 2720 on the UNSC in addition to activating the UN mechanism on facilitating, coordinating and monitoring access of aid supplies to Gaza, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said.

Both ministers tackled the challenges facing UNRWA activities due to the decision of some countries to suspend funding it.

Eide lauded Egypt’s important role to present and deliver humanitarian aid supplies to the Gaza Strip and reach a ceasefire and implement a truce there, Abu Zeid said.

During the call, both ministers agreed on continuing consultations and coordination during the coming period to support efforts exerted to contain the crisis and limit its humanitarian repercussions on the Palestinians.
