Egyptian ambassador to Palestine inspects Al-Aqsa Mosque

The Egyptian ambassador to Palestine, Yasser Othman, inspected Al-Aqsa Mosque after what he called Israeli excesses against the Islamic and Christian sanctities of Jerusalem, particularly the attack on the Holy Quran and the excavations below the mosque.

“The Egyptian leadership sent me to declare our rejection of the excesses on Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is at the heart of the doctrine of Muslims and that is an integral part of the holy city, which is acknowledged by the world as the capital of the state of Palestine in many [United Nations] resolutions,” he said.

Othman condemned Israeli unilateral actions in Jerusalem, especially the wall and checkpoints, and the enactment of laws that limit freedom of worship and access from the West Bank and Gaza to the mosque.

Youssef Mekheimar, head of the Mourabitoun fil Qods Committee, praised Egypt’s role in supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and their quest to establish an independent state with full sovereignty.

Othman also visited many sites endangered with settlements and excavations in the Old City of Jerusalem.
