Egyptian Railways Authority develops 156 stations at total cost of LE1 billion

 

The Egyptian Railways Authority is implementing a process of developing, improving and maintaining 156 railway stations for a total cost of LE1 billion, spokesman for the Transport Ministry Mohamed Ezz said on Friday.

He explained that this comes as part of the ministry’s plans to improve public services.

Ezz said that instructions from Transport Minister Hisham Arafat stressed the need to carefully adhere to project timetables, and to ease the movement of people in the stations undergoing the development work.

He added that 23 stations are being developed with a total cost of LE451 million; 13 stations have already been completed and the development of 10 stations is under way and will be completed by June 2019.

As for the improvement, efficiency upgrades and maintenance of 133 railway stations (total cost LE626 million), around 79 stations have been completed, and improvement work is already underway for 54 stations.
