Egypt’s naval forces foil attempt to smuggle drugs via Red Sea

CAIRO, April 3 (MENA) – The Egyptian naval forces successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle quantities of drugs within the Southern Fleet’s area.

This endeavor comes in line with the directives of the Armed Forces General Command to intensify efforts to secure and protect the country’s borders across various strategic directions.

The Red Sea Naval base received a tip on narcotics smuggling operation via the Red Sea and immediately issued directives to hunt down the smugglers.

An exchange of fire erupted during the manhunt, while the navy managed to arrest the smugglers with large quantity of hasish and hydro drugs in their possession.

The seized drugs and those involved in the smuggling operation were handed over to the authorities concerned to take the necessary legal procedures. (MENA)
