Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk has said that Egypt’s farmers have received 75 percent of their subsidized fertilizers quotas upon the directives of the political leadership which is interested in increasing the number of farmlands across the country.
In statements to Nile News TV Monday, he said that Egypt is witnessing an increase in the number of agricultural lands, agro-processing facilities and fertilizers production.
He said the government pays attention to partnerships with the private sector, pointing out that the coming period would witness an important development in the agricultural domains in coordination with investors.
Farouk opened on Saturday, on behalf of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, the 36th Edition of the Sahara International Agricultural Exhibition, the largest agricultural exhibition in Africa and the Middle East.
The event is to run till Tuesday at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in New Cairo.
This year’s edition is kicking off under the theme ‘Harvesting Innovation for a Better Tomorrow’.
