FJP: State Commissioners’ recommendation to dissolve party non-binding

The Freedom and Justice Party's legal committee said the state commissioners' recommendation to dissolve the party is non-binding to the judiciary.

Nonetheless, the party said it expects a decision dissolveing the party to be made. The party said they will study the recommendation and respond to it.

Yasser Hamza, a member of the party's legal committee, said the party was established while a constitutional article banning the formation of religious parties under the rule of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces was in place.

The decision to dissolve the party is a political settlement of scores, he said.

Hamza told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the party's legal committee will examine the recommendation and then await the court order to take the proper legal action, adding that they will defend the political position of the party since it has not committed any violation that warrants its dissolution.

Hamza called for solving political conflicts through dialogue rather than judicial orders.
