Cairo airport authorities on Monday allowed Egypt's former communications minister to travel to France for treatment despite travel ban orders on former officials.
The Supreme Council of Armed Forces allowed Tarek Kamel to travel because he was in critical condition, according to airport sources.
Shortly after former president Hosni Mubarak's ouster, national security issued orders to deny many former and current ministers from exiting Egypt without permits.
Former Finance Minister Youssef Boutros-Ghali traveled from Egypt before a ban was issued. Boutros-Ghali, who left Cairo last month, is accused in connection with corruption cases.
