The Cabinet’s Media Center denied on Monday that there is no shortage of white rice on markets and supply outlets.
In a statement Monday, the media center said it contacted with Supply and Internal Trade Ministry, which totally denied these reports, asserting that they are baseless and bare of truth.
The ministry stressed that all basic commodities are available on markets, including white rice, saying that sufficient amounts of rice are pumped into markets nationwide.
It added that the country has a strategic reserve of rice sufficient for about three and half months.
The center urged all media outlets to seek accuracy and objectivity before publishing news, advising them to contact bodies concerned so as to avoid sparking confusion among the public.
The center also called for reporting any rumor or misinformation on WhatsApp numbers (01155508688 -01155508851) or email ([email protected]).
