Gov’t Places SDGs On Top Of Its Priorities: Labor Min

The government places the sustainable development goals (SDGs) on the top of its priorities and is working to localize them and integrate them into its plans in line with directives issued by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, affirmed Labor Minister Hassan Shehata.

The government also exerts utmost efforts to implement SDGs-related plans and programs in cooperation with development partners from UN bodies and international organizations, he added while delivering a speech during the first meeting of the joint steering committee of the strategic framework for the partnership between Egypt and the United Nations for cooperation for sustainable development, which was held at the New Administrative Capital (NAC).

In his speech, the minister further said that Egyptian women receive unprecedented attention from the political leadership.

He further referred to the implementation of several programs pertaining to women empowerment, including the decision to establish a unit to promote gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.

The minister also pointed out to the cooperation with the International Labor Organization (ILO) to organize several workshops, which aim to protect the working women and create a suitable working environment for female employees.
