Interior Ministry: Minister Ibrahim was acquitted in May

An Interior Ministry official has denied that Minister Mohamed Ibrahim was sentenced to prison and removed from office for failing to carry out a court order.

The official said on Tuesday that the verdict of the Nasr City Misdemeanor Court was issued in May in favor of Abdel Alim Fahim (Case No. 19334 for the year 2013) and Ali Sayed (Case No. 19335 for the year 2013), ruling a compensation for the period they had spent in prison, and that the minister carried out the verdict and was hence acquitted.

Nasr City Misdemeanor Court had reportedly sentenced Ibrahim to two years in prison on Tuesday for failing to implement a court ruling in favor of two former political detainees.

The two detainees, Sayed and Fahim, had filed for compensation for the time they had spent in prison. A court ruled in favor of a LE25,000 compensation for them, yet the minister was reported not to have carried out the verdict.
