Minister of Justice Mahmoud al-Sherif said that Egypt is intensifying efforts to build a secure digital environment and combat cybercrime through continued investment in digital transformation and institutional development.
In his remarks at an international conference on cybercrime and emerging digital threats, al-Sherif said that the ministry has taken steps to modernize its systems and enhance capacity-building efforts, including the establishment of the Egyptian-African Center for the Prevention and Combating of Cybercrime in cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
He added that cybercrime has become a growing global challenge that requires stronger international cooperation, particularly with the rapid expansion of digital technologies and artificial intelligence.
During the talks, participants discussed emerging cyber threats, electronic evidence, online crimes, and ways to improve coordination among countries to strengthen cybersecurity and support criminal justice systems.
The conference was organized by the Ministry of Justice in partnership with UNODC, the Council of Europe, and the British University in Egypt.
