Military council to issue amendments on some political laws, says source

The ruling Supreme Council of Armed Forces will issue amendments on some laws, including one on political rights and another on the organization of elections, a military source told Egyptian news agency MENA on Monday.

The military council issued an interim constitution of 63 articles in March, in place until a new Constitution is drawn up after parliamentary elections in September.

A ministerial committee last week approved a political rights law that allows expatriate Egyptians to vote in parliamentary and presidential elections. It requires authorization from the ruling council for the law to come into effect, however.

The 1971 Constitution excluded expatriates from voting.
