
Egypt is fully committed to respecting and protecting human rights, Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights Affairs Mahy Abdel Latif said in a statement on Friday.
The Egyptian minister made such remarks during a meeting with UK Foreign Office Minister Baroness Anelay and Egypt's Ambassador in London Nasser Kamel.
Abdel Latif asserted that no discrimination among Egyptians on the grounds of race, religion or sex.
Despite the current political, security, and economic challenges faced by Egypt, the Egyptian government made significant accomplishments in a short time, Mahy added.
For her part, the UK minister stressed that Egypt has a great strategic importance at the regional and global levels, hailing the role played by Egypt in handling crises faced by the Middle East countries.
Anelay said that Britain is fully aware of the difficulties suffered by Egypt at all levels, especially the security ones, confirming that the British authorities know well that there is no link between Islam and terrorism.
