The number of tourists visiting Egypt will return to pre-revolution levels in September, Tourism Minister Mounir Fakhri Abdel Nour predicted in an interview with a Kuwaiti newspaper.
Egypt's tourism industry, one of its biggest sources of income, was strongly affected by the unstable security situation that coincided with the 25 January revolution.
"I predict tourist numbers will return to past rates with the start of the new season in September and October," he said. "Data suggests tourist activities are being restored to pre-revolution rates."
He said several countries' decisions to lift travel bans on Egypt-bound travelers confirm that the security situation has stabilized.
Abdel Nour welcomed the flow of Gulf capital into the nascent touristic areas of Sohag, Minya and the southern areas of the Red Sea.
There are numerous requests for investment in such areas, which require daring investors, he said, promising to facilitate investment.
Abdel Nour said his visit to Kuwait, scheduled for Monday night, seeks rapprochement with Kuwait on all levels, as well as promoting tourism in Egypt.
The minister said he will be accompanied by a high-level delegation of media figures, journalists, actors and poets.
