Minister of Health: Launch of medical insurance plan for Eid al-Adha across all governorates

Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar announced the start of a comprehensive medical insurance plan for Eid al-Adha across all governorates of the country, aiming to protect public health and ensure rapid response to emergencies.

The plan includes strengthening preventive, treatment, and emergency services, in addition to securing highways medically, identifying referral hospitals, deploying rapid response teams, and boosting medical supply readiness, alongside activating 24/7 monitoring rooms.

The minister confirmed raising readiness levels in all hospitals, especially coastal and highway hospitals, increasing doctors and nursing staff, and organizing shifts in surgery and intensive care units.

He also reviewed the continuity of primary healthcare services, including operating 238 outlets for formula milk distribution, 47 pre-marriage screening facilities, and launching 26 mobile medical convoys near mosques and public parks.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Health Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said that the plan ensures oxygen availability, ICU bed support, medication supplies, in addition to full readiness of poison control centers and the emergency hotline (137), which operates 24/7.

The Egyptian Ambulance Authority has raised its readiness with 1,673 ambulances stationed at mosques, parks, and major roads, along with 11 river and marine rescue boats.

A blood stock of 17,253 units has been secured, with 15 percent reserved for emergencies.

Preventive measures also include intensified monitoring of drinking water and swimming pools, rapid response to food poisoning cases, and enhanced vector control campaigns.

The minister also reviewed preparedness within the Universal Health Insurance Authority facilities across 287 family medicine units and 39 hospitals, ensuring rapid intervention and coordination with ambulance services.

He directed central monitoring teams to continue field inspections and fully link the central crisis room with governorate operations rooms. He highlighted that this will ensure precise implementation and immediate responses to any incident.
