Twenty competitors for Miss Egypt 2018 visited Luxor city on Monday to sight-see ancient temples and other tourist sites, such as the Karnak Temple Complex, just before the start of the competition which runs from September 17th-21st.
The competition’s managing director Hoda Abboud said that the visit aims to increase tourists coming to Luxor and Aswan cities.
Abboud added that the competitors visited the Sofitel Winter Palace Hotel and two Statues of Memnon in Luxor before going on a Nile cruise to Aswan and then moving on to Alexandria.
The competitors would return to Cairo to participate in the closing ceremony on October 3 and select the winner, who will go on top represent Egypt at the Miss Universe 2018 competition in the US, on December.
Tourist expert Mohammed Osman said that these visits would help increase tourism, adding that the the Miss Universe 2018 Competition will show a 15 minute movie on tourist sites and monuments in Luxor.
