Morsy’s son to Al Jazeera: My father’s trial is a laughing stock

Osama, son of deposed President Mohamed Morsy, told the Al Jazeera channel on Tuesday that his father’s trial is a "laughing stock" because it was broadcast live with him placed in a soundproof glass cage.

“I will resort to an international tribunal,” he vowed.

He also said that he was not permitted to attend the hearing despite the fact that he is a lawyer. He said that “authorities refused my attempts to visit him in prison more than once.”

“I say my father was kidnapped,” he added. “We (his family) only get his news from the media like everybody else.”

Commenting on the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces clearing Field Marshal Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to run for the presidency, he said the "military coup" is trying to control the state and reinstate President Hosni Mubarak’s regime. “The matter now is not a defense of legitimacy ,” he said. “It has become a cause for the nation.”
