Free Egyptians Party leader and MP Emad Gad announced his resignation from the party during a phone interview on CBC channel Monday evening.
Gad said he nominated himself for undersecretary of the parliament, but not as a member of the Free Egyptians Party.
He said that he notified the party of his resignation and objects to the way Free Egyptians Party officials objected to his nomination.
Head of the Free Egyptians Party parliamentary bloc Alaa Abed meanwhile commented on Gad's nomination saying that he did not announce to the party his plans to run for undersecretary of the parliament.
"I advise him to backtrack on his candidacy," he said.
Gad responded by saying that he holds responsibility for his decision.
