The National Alliance to Support Legitimacy (NASL) has said that the tens of millions who took to the streets on Friday in all governorates of Egypt proved that they reject the fascist military coup that will bring the country backwards, and that they reject the mandate to murder Egyptians.
In a statement on Friday evening, the alliance sent a message to the people, saying that they have put the coup leader in his place, and that the General Command of the Armed Forces should remove him because he is no longer fit to lead.
Hundreds of thousands had gathered in various squares in the country in support of the call by Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to give the army a mandate to fight potential terrorism and violence.
The statement denounced what it described as “forgery” on the part of media by trying to show that the people who took to the streets on Friday were supporting the coup."
“It saddens us to see Egyptian military planes, which are owned by the people, only taking pictures of the crowds in Tahrir Square and outside the presidential palace, ignoring the crowds that flowed naturally in all other squares of Egypt to reject the military coup,” the statement said.
The statement said policemen in civilian clothes assaulted peaceful demonstrators against the coup in Alexandria, killing five, and attacked female demonstrators in Damietta.
Seven people were killed and dozens injured in clashes between supporters and opponents of deposed President Mohamed Morsy in the vicinity of al-Qaed Ibrahim mosque in Alexandria.
The statement called on Egyptians to stand firm and prove to the world that Egypt will never go back, and that the democratic process will continue despite the interruption caused by the “fascist” military coup.
It also said that the Egyptian army will remain loyal to the homeland and will not engage in politics, and that the Egyptian police bear the responsibility to renounce the killers among them.
