One mild injury from Monufiya court blast: ministry

One restaurant worker was mildly wounded when an IED exploded outside a court in Monufiya on Wednesday, the Health Ministry said following the explosion.

According to security sources, an IED planted opposite a district court in the city of Monuf caused the collapse of a primary school wall and two balconies from a nearby building. Four parked vehicles were destroyed as well.

Egypt has been witnessing recurrent bombings and gun attacks targeting security and public facilities since the ouster of the Muslim Brotherhood government in 2013. The government blames the outlawed group for most of the attacks except in Sinai Peninsula, where attacks are claimed by Islamic State affiliates.
