Opening of Moroccan, Canadian markets for Egyptian products: Agriculture Minister

Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Elsayed Al-Qasir, announced the opening of Morocco’s markets to Egyptian potatoes and the Canadian markets to strawberries, as part of the efforts made by the Ministry to open new international markets to Egyptian agricultural products.

This is in implementation of the directives of the political leadership to open new markets to Egyptian agricultural exports to support the national economy with cash reserves.

This came based on a report received by Al-Quseir from Dr. Saad Moussa, supervisor of the Egyptian agricultural quarantine stating that the quarantine had succeeded in opening the Moroccan market to Egyptian potatoes, as the Moroccan agricultural authorities (ONSSA) notified the Egyptian Agricultural Quarantine of officially approving the opening of the Moroccan market to Egyptian exports agricultural crops of potatoes, and actually begin exporting.

The report also reported the success of the quarantine in opening the Canadian market to Egyptian exports of fresh strawberries for the first time, as all procedures for opening Canadian markets to strawberry exports were completed and all technical requirements for the Canadian side were met, which enhances the agricultural sector’s contribution to Egyptian national income.
