Opponents of Islamism are Satan’s followers, says Islamist leader

Mohamed Mokhtar al-Mady, the head of the Legislative Committee of the largest Salafi group in Egypt, said on Monday that those who are against the Islamists rising to power are infidels. “They are Satan’s followers,” he said.

“Why are people afraid of applying Islamic Sharia if it only punishes criminals,” he said. “He who steals out of need will not have his hand cut, but the hands of the former officials who are now in prison must be cut.”

Al-Mady also said that no Christian has the right to become president as he would not know how to apply Islamic Sharia.

“Also women cannot be presidents,” he said. “They go weak when they get their periods, so how can we put the fate of the nation in their hands?”

However, he said that true Muslims do not want to destroy statues of ancient temples.
