A collection of political powers plans to send a delegation to meet with the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) and present a list of demands after Israeli troops killed six Egyptian security and military personnel in Sinai on Thursday.
The delegation will include four presidential hopefuls and representatives from six political parties.
In a statement issued after meeting on Saturday at the Wasat Party headquarters, the assembled political powers described the attack on Egypt's border as the continuation of a policy of arrogance and racism adopted by Israel with the support of the United States.
They demanded the recall of the Egyptian ambassador from Tel Aviv and explusion of the Israeli ambassdor from Cairo.
They also called to prevent Israel's navy ships from passing through the Suez Canal, and for additional military forces to be positioned in Sinai and equipped with advanced weapons to ensure Egypt’s sovereignty over its land.
They demanded that those who killed the Egyptians be handed over to Egypt for trial, a report be submitted to the UN Security Council, and Israeli officials who decided to launch the attack be brought to justice.
They also demanded that relations between Egypt and Israel be reviewed, including the export of Egyptian natural gas to Israel.
Presidential hopefuls Amr Moussa, Hesham el-Bastawisi, Ayman Nour and Abdel Moneim Abouel Fotouh signed the statement, as well as six political parties, including Wasat and Wafd.
