Petroleum min: Natural gas became energy balancer in Egypt

Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Tarek al-Molla said on Monday that natural gas has become the energy balancer in Egypt given that many industries are being operated by it.

Molla was speaking during a workshop as a part of the activities of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) to discuss opportunities and challenges which the gas industry faces globally.

The minister pointed out to the expansion in the use of natural gas in Egypt as about 13.5 million housing units are now depending on it as a source of energy.

Egypt is keen on closely working with the forum’s members to build more partnerships for a sustainable future, he added.

Meanwhile, GECF Secretary-General Mohamed Hamel thanked Egypt for hosting the forum, which is an opportunity for reconfirming the important role of natural gas in sustainable development.
